Spring Features for Dobinson Top Engineered Design
- Two-Stage Leaf Pack: A primary stage for smooth, comfortable ride when unladen, and secondary stage engaging progressively to provide extra support under heavy cargo or towing.
- Draw-Tapered and Diamond-Cut Leaves: Distributes the load evenly over a larger surface area to reduce high stress points at the ends of the leaves, improving ride quality & spring life.
- Shot-Peened Tension Side: The tension side of each leaf is shot-peened (bombarded with small spherical shots) to reduce internal metal stress, a process that can effectively double the lifespan of the spring.
- Anti-Friction Nylon Liners: Re-greasable nylon pads and interleaf liners sit at the leaf tips to minimize friction where the load is greatest, reduce noise, and prevent squeaking.
- Flat Axle Seat Area: Provides a secure and positive axle mount that lowers localized stress on the spring while maintaining proper arch height.
- Military Wrap Design: Extends the main leaf eyelet wrap to provide an extra layer of safety and structural security in case of primary leaf failure.
- Scragged and Load Tested: Fully scragged (pre-flexed to a permanent set) to eliminate initial settling and drastically reduce the risk of future sagging under load.

They provide a significant increase in performance over the standard shock absorbers. They feature larger bodies, larger bores and increased valving performance to dramatically improve vehicle handling and control and reduces shock fade.
We proudly manufacture the highest quality replacement leaf springs for many different applications, complying to ISO9001:2008 international quality standards from our state of the art manufacturing facility in Central Queensland, Australia. All Dobinson springs, load tested and scragged 100% to eliminate subsequent spring sag. We also perform spring fatigue and hardness testing using in-house state of the art testing equipment.
Long Travel Shock System
- Softer Ride. Low gas pressure makes twin-tube shocks more forgiving and comfortable for everyday street driving. But valving and construction heavy duty enough for offroad use and abuse.
- Lower Seal Stress. Low internal pressures place less friction and physical stress on internal oil seals, extending component life.
- Damage Resistance. If outer casing receives a minor dent or ding from road debris, inner compression tube often remains undamaged, functional.
- Independent Valving Control. Dual-valve designs separate compression and rebound movements, allowing fine-tuning without unwanted side effects on opposing cycles.
- Improved Ride Quality. Advanced valving systems absorb rough road impacts and reduce noise, vibration, and harshness from entering the cabin.
- Better Handling and Stability. Nitrogen gas-charging and specialized control technologies reduce vehicle body roll, sway. Also, bounce during sudden lane changes or turns. Better control for higher speed offroad fun.
- Shorter Stopping Distances. Keeping tires firmly planted on the pavement helps your vehicle brake faster and more securely in an emergency, and more traction offroad.
