Grand Cherokee Shocks for your stock or lifted Jeep Grand Cherokee. We tested other brands of shocks for many years and were often very unhappy with the ride quality. We tried all the big ‘name’ shocks, Edelbrocks, Bilsteins, ProComp, Skyjacker, etc. All the same, all too stiff for the Jeep. So, we engineered a shock that stands head and shoulders above the rest for ride quality.
These LongTravel shocks are absolutely perfect for folks who want a great on and off-road shock. But who also don’t want to spend over $200 buying them. These shocks are valved moderately for a very smooth highway ride.
Our Grand Cherokee kits are also available in a variety of lengths. You can go from 0-10″ of lift and we have the shock sizes to work. Our shocks have also been engineered as an excellent long travel system. Thus, they have a greater range of motion than other comparable shocks on the market.
Jeep Grand Long Travel Kits
Most shocks on the market are generic and the manuals say they will fit the Jeep Grand Cherokee. But, they’re all valved to fit full size trucks because that’s the real bread and butter for these US lift companies. So you are looking at shocks from those suspension companies that produce lift kits for full-size pickup trucks. Those shocks that are designed to work on diesel pickup truck lift are the same shocks they supply for your Jeep! Does that sound right to you? How do you think a shock that is engineered to accommodate a 6-7,000 truck are going to ride on your vehicle weighing 1/2 that amount? Common sense will give you the answer to that question.

What Are Grand Cherokee Long Travel Shocks & How Do They Work?
Designed to deliver excellent handling and control. As the name implies, twin-tube shocks have two cylinders – an inner tube that houses the piston rod, piston valve, hydraulic fluid and base valve and an outer tube that holds the reserve hydraulic fluid and the gas charge.
Featuring a piston rod that is connected to a piston valve, the piston rod moves up and down as the vehicle travels over bumps and dips; the fluid is forced through the piston valve and/or the base valve to control excess vehicle movement. When the shock is compressed, the piston pushes oil through the base valve into the reserve tube area. When the shock is extended, oil is forced through the piston valve and flows back into the inner tube.
Rocky Road shocks have been engineered more specifically for offroad use with a Long Travel design or increased range of suspension flex over other shock kit. We also valve them more for comfort than for Desert Racing as many shock suppliers do. Desert Race shocks are great if you are in fact racing. Otherwise, they ride far too stiff and rough for our daily driver use and comfort needs.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Long Travel Shocks Core Design Elements
- Dual Concentric Tubes: An inner pressure cylinder handles the main piston stroke, while an outer reserve tube acts as a fluid and low-pressure gas reservoir.
- Piston Valve: Controls the flow of oil during compression and rebound strokes via calibrated shim discs.
- Base (Foot) Valve: Located at the bottom of the inner tube to manage fluid transfer into and out of the outer reserve chamber.
- Low-Pressure Gas Charge: Cushions internal movements and helps prevent oil aeration under standard operating conditions.
- Softer Ride Quality: Provides a more forgiving, comfortable feel over rough road bumps compared to stiffer monotube designs. Delivers a softer, more forgiving feel over everyday bumps and light trail driving.
- Reduced Seal Stress: Low internal gas pressure reduces wear and tear on seals and keeps mechanical friction minimal.
- Resilient Outer Body: Minor exterior dents or impacts on the outer reserve tube often still allow the internal working cylinder to function.
- Low Internal Pressure: Operates with lower gas pressure than monotube options, reducing wear and tear on internal seals.

Handbuilt Nitrogen Charged Monotube Rebuildable Shock System. State-of-the-Art Monotube shock technology provides the maximum combination in both comfort and control. Cooler operating temperatures, lighter weight and bigger bore size combine to outperform a conventional twin-tube shock.
The performance begins with 14mm super-finished, hardened, chrome-plated piston rods designed to endure the most punishing pavement or off-road endeavors.
A chamber full of HIGH PRESSURE NITROGEN GAS and FLOATING PISTON TECHNOLOGY results in the quickest responding shock absorber ever engineered. A big 46mm bore reacts faster to bumps and absorbs impact with extreme quickness. Achieve maximum control through APPLICATION-TUNED VALVING.
Experience greater performance with a state-of-the-art SEAMLESS TUBE DESIGN which keeps the shock’s operating temperature cooler. This, in turn, gives you long-lasting performance.
The 2.0 Mono-Tube Shock is a rebuildable, re-valvable shock that is custom built to customers specifications.
