Let’s face it.. there are dozens of different lift kits out there for your Jeep. What separates one from another? Even when we scan web searches, they all look the same. It is the pictures of the springs? Shocks? All the nice brackets and bits? Fancy colors? These pictures sure make those kits look nice. So how does one choose?
Underneath it all, underneath all the advertising, the flashy photos, the colorful vehicles, lies the foundation of any lift. The springs. All those lift kits you see all stacked up in the magazines and catalogs, they do have at least one thing in common… stiff riding springs.
Crummy springs are the bane of the Jeep 4×4 world….. prevalent, horrible, tough to identify. Advertising budgets and flashy colors in pictures make great camouflage for them. They’ll take your dream toy and turn it into something no one wants to ride in, and you curse every day you failed to research properly and wound up on those stiff big brand name springs. We will get into this in a bit. We have many many people who have called us looking for assistance on how to fix the poor ride quality of these other lift kits.

We also package in Rocky Road Long Travel shocks. We feel we have designed the best riding Long Travel shock found on the market today for moderate weight vehicles like our Jeeps. Other Brand-Name shocks are designed for vehicles thousands of lbs heavier (namely, pickup trucks), our engineered shocks are right on the money for a Jeep. Superbly valved for a great ride on road without being mushy offroad.
Nitrogen gas, monotube, aluminum hand-built shocks are available as an upgrade option.

All Libertys use a front strut system. Sometimes assembling these struts can be challenging to impossible for folks who want a simple Do-It-Yourself home installation. Rocky Road has the solution! Our kits now come with the option of pre-assembly which makes it so anyone can install the Old Man Emu lift on their own without special equipment. Liberty Spring Features
- Micro-Alloyed Steel Construction. Built using state-of-the-art micro-alloyed spring steel (such as X5K steel) for exceptional strength, resilience, and resistance to permanent sagging.
- Double-Scragged Process. Each spring undergoes scragging (pre-setting) before and after shot peening to reduce internal stress and significantly enhance the working lifespan of the spring.
- Precision Computer Mandrels. Formed on computer-controlled, precision mandrels to guarantee exact manufacturing consistency and proper suspension geometry.
- Exact End Configurations. Spring end configurations are designed to precise OEM specifications to guarantee a seamless, direct-fit installation.
- Durable Powder Coat Finish. Coated in a hard-wearing, durable black powder coat finish that shields the steel against mud, road salt, rocks, and harsh weather corrosion.
Optional Rear Shock System:
Hand-built Nitrogen Charged Monotube Rebuildable Shock System. State-of-the-Art Monotube shock technology provides the maximum combination in both comfort and control. Cooler operating temperatures, lighter weight and bigger bore size combine to outperform a conventional twin-tube shock.
The performance begins with 14mm super-finished, hardened, chrome-plated piston rods designed to endure the most punishing pavement or off-road endeavors.
A chamber full of HIGH PRESSURE NITROGEN GAS and FLOATING PISTON TECHNOLOGY results in the quickest responding shock absorber ever engineered. A big 46mm bore reacts faster to bumps and absorbs impact with extreme quickness. Achieve maximum control through APPLICATION-TUNED VALVING.
Experience greater performance with a state-of-the-art SEAMLESS TUBE DESIGN which keeps the shock’s operating temperature cooler. This, in turn, gives you long-lasting performance.
The 2.0 Mono-Tube Shock is a rebuildable, re-valvable shock that is custom built to customers specifications.
