Description
Montero Torsion Bars – Dobinson, Pajero
Dobinson Montero Heavy-Duty Torsion Bars (also for same year Pajero). Designed to improve front-end suspension performance and ride height, especially when additional weight is added from accessories like bullbars or winches. Made from high-quality micro-alloy steel and featuring cold-rolled splines, these torsion bars provide increased spring rate and durability, making them ideal for both daily driving and rugged off-road use. With a simple, direct replacement design, straightforward installation with no modifications needed.
Key Features:
- Increased spring rate for improved handling and ride height
- Cold rolled splines for strength and precise fit
- Durable powdercoat finish to resist corrosion
- Directionally preset and scragged to prevent sagging and fatigue
- Easy installation with clearly marked sides for correct fitment
A torsion bar in a truck is a long steel spring that twists to absorb impacts and support weight. This acts like a coil spring but taking up less space. Torsion bars, commonly used in front suspensions for ride height adjustability and compact design. Instead of compressing, it twists along its axis. Typically one end fixed to the frame, and the other to a control arm. Thus, providing the spring force to absorb bumps and support the vehicle. Torsion bars allow for easy “cranking” or adjustment by tightening a bolt on the torsion key, which raises the front of the truck, making them popular for leveling or lifting.

Anchored Ends: One end of the steel bar is fixed to the truck’s frame, and the other connects to the lower control arm.
Twisting Motion: When the wheel hits a bump, the control arm twists the bar. The bar resists this twisting (torsional resistance) to absorb the shock.
Spring Action: This resistance provides the spring force, returning the wheel to its original position, similar to a coil spring.
Space-Saving: Its compact, straight design saves valuable space in the engine bay for other components.
Adjustable Ride Height: A bolt on the torsion key can be tightened to increase tension, raising the front of the truck.
Robustness: It offers the durability needed for tough truck applications while providing independent suspension for comfort and control.
Front Suspension: Most often found in the front suspension of 4×4 trucks and SUVs.
Leveling & Lifting: Used for “cranking” the front end up to level a truck or achieve a lift.
Heavy Loads: Upgraded heavy-duty torsion bars can support additional weight from winches or steel bumpers.
