TJ 4″ Lift Kit OME

TJ 4″ Lift Kit – 4 Inch OME, with Old Man Emu Springs. Let’s face it.. there are at least a hundred different lift kits out there for your Jeep. What separates one from another? Even when we flip thru magazines, they all look the same. It is the pictures of the springs? Shocks? All the nice brackets and bits? Fancy colors? These pictures sure make those kits look nice. So how does one choose?

Underneath it all, underneath all the advertising, the flashy photos, the colorful vehicles, lies the foundation of any lift. The springs. All those lift kits you see all stacked up in the magazines and catalogs, they do have at least one thing in common… stiff riding springs.

Crummy springs are the bane of the Jeep 4×4 world….. prevalent, horrible, tough to identify. Advertising budgets and flashy colors in pictures make great camoflage for them. They’ll take your dream toy and turn it into something no one wants to ride in, and you curse every day you failed to research properly and wound up on those stiff big brand name springs.

TJ LJ 4″ Lift Spring Features

  • Micro-Alloyed Steel Springs: Manufactured from state-of-the-art micro-alloyed spring steel for maximum strength and long-lasting durability.
  • Double Scragging: Each spring is double scragged (compressed past its yield point) before and after shot peening to reduce internal stress and prevent sagging over time.
  • Precision Mandrels: Formed on computer-controlled, precision mandrels to ensure manufacturing consistency and accurate load handling.
  • Exact Fitment: Designed with specific end configurations to guarantee a direct, precise fit matching original equipment specifications.
  • Durable Coating: Finished in a hard-wearing powder coat that resists corrosion from mud, road salt, and harsh weather.
  • Strut Options feature nitrogen gas-charged twin-tube designs calibrated to restore and improve on and offroad handling and control.
  • Triple-chrome-plated Strut piston rod provides an ultra-smooth surface that reduces seal wear and prevents fluid leaks.
  • Seamless working Shock/Strut cylinders and Teflon-coated piston bands extend product life and maintain an ideal piston stroke.
  • Multi-stage precision Shock/Strut hydraulic valves reduce fluid aeration and react quickly to changing road surfaces.
  • Thick strut bodies and brackets on Shocks/Struts minimize flex to help maintain proper wheel alignment and vehicle control.

Spring manufacturing is a fine art which very few companies take the time to engineer properly. The largest names in the business are guilty of it…. mass producing cheap springs that ride brutally stiff, but sell well because of the insane markup that most 4×4 shops get on those springs…. meaning they really push those big name kits.

Best 4″ Lift Kit for Wrangler TJ, Rubicon, Unlimited

There is no question about it, the world knows that Old Man Emu spring design cannot beat for ride quality. Their only downside is that they are not too tall which poses a problem for folks looking to run taller tires, but who still want to enjoy their daily ride in their nice Jeep. OME avoids the EXTREME scene by manufacturing springs only up to 4″ in lift height. For this reason they’re not as well known as other brands, but they are indisputably the best. We have combined the 4″ OME springs with some extra lift components to offer a system that not only rides far better than anything else on the market, but can handle up to 33″ tires with stock fenders, and some 35″ tires with Bushwacker cut-out flares.

Rocky Road soft-ride long travel shocks. See list info below.
We feel we have designed the best riding shock we have found on the market today for moderate weight vehicles like our Jeeps.

For some good information on why the OME Spring Designs offer such a superior ride, please visit our OME springs page at the link to the right.

Almost as bad in handling in handling on the highway as poorly engineered springs, are some of the “long arm” kits that are on the market. Many of these kits do not allow your front axle to cycle up and down in the manner it was designed for which is why they handle so spooky at highway speeds. Long-arm kits are cheap to make, easy to for a shop to make profit on, and horrible at highway speeds. But they do look super-cool parked in a picture which is why the current hype.

Long arm kits are fine for vehicles trailered to the trails. If you want to keep your vehicle and passenger’s safe though, stay away from this latest fad as the rotating castor on these systems makes for screwy handling. Long arm kits make your Jeep turn like a skateboards (picture pivoting axles). Your life is worth more than an extra inch or two of suspension flex on the trail. Expert editors from various suspension magazines agree as well… Stay safe, avoid the long-arm systems.

The Trailblazer 4″ lift kit is the perfect size for 33″ tires which happens to be the perfect tire for TJ Wranglers. Small enough not to cause trouble with ‘Johnny Law’, safe enough to run on a daily driver, not overpowering to braking and steering systems, yet a great size for off-roading on all but the most extreme of bottomless mudpits or rockcrawling competitions.

Each Wrangler TJ kit includes:

  • Old Man Emu Spring Design front and rear coil springs for a full 4″ of lift. Simply put, the best riding spring on the market available.
  • Nitro based shock options. A great soft riding shock designed for the medium weight of the Wrangler. Rides like a dream on road as opposed to other STIFF shocks.
  • Adj Front Track Bar. Anytime you go over 2″ in lift, you must replace the front track bar to keep proper front axle alignment and handling. We have kits for both Left hand and Right hand drive Jeeps.
  • Adj Rear Track Bar. Anytime you go over 2″ in lift, you want to adjust the rear track bar to keep proper rear axle position and handling.
  • Rear Lower shock mounts. These move the shocks away from your axle slightly which makes sure your shocks don’t touch the axle even during the most extreme rear suspension flex.
  • Transfer Case drop kit. An unfortunate side effect of lifting TJ’s over 2″ is the need to also drop the transfer case. This helps keep driveline vibes at bay by reducing the ujoint angles and stress on the rear slip yoke. Not necessary or included in Unlimited and Rubicon kits.

Long Travel Prerunner Shock System

  • Softer Ride. Low gas pressure makes shocks more forgiving and comfortable for everyday street driving. But valving & construction heavy duty for offroad use & abuse.
  • Lower Seal Stress. Low internal pressures place less friction & physical stress on internal seals, extending component life.
  • Damage Resistance. If outer casing receives a dent or ding from road debris, inner compression tube remains undamaged, functional.
  • Independent Valving Control. Dual-valve designs separate compression and rebound movements, allowing fine-tuning without unwanted side effects on opposing cycles.
  • Improved Ride Quality. Advanced valving systems absorb rough road impacts, reduce noise, vibration, & harshness.
  • Better Handling and Stability. Nitrogen gas-charging and specialized control technologies reduce vehicle body roll, sway. Also, bounce during sudden lane changes or turns. Better control for higher speed offroad fun.
  • Shorter Stopping Distances. Tires firmly planted on pavement helps vehicle brake faster, more securely in emergency, & more traction offroad.
  • Extended Component Life. Restoring proper ride control and comfort prevents premature, uneven tire wear. Also, protects fragile steering and suspension parts from excessive shock damage.
  • Enhanced Durability. Special anti-corrosion rod coatings, premium oil seals, and robust piston constructions help prevent fluid leaks and extend product lifespan.
  • High Velocity Speed Sensitive Valving.  The surge in fluid volume forces open internal shims or relief valves (often arranged in a shim stack) to manage the massive spike in energy, turning kinetic motion into controlled thermal heat without creating a dangerously rigid impact.
  • Massive 1 5/8 Piston Assembly.
  • Added Oil Capacity past the factory baselines to improve suspension performance, progression, and bottoming resistance
  • Enhanced Suspension Flex 1-2″ more suspension than Dobinson.
  • Cellular Nitrogen Gas. Nitrogen Gas Charged. Microscopic, sealed pockets of gas trapped inside a dense, closed-cell foam sleeve rather than floating freely as a loose gas charge. More commonly known as foam cell technology

Also available are our Slip Yoke Eliminator systems. Excellent for taking care of potential rear driveshaft vibrations, leaks, alignment angles. Just a great thing to have on any lifted Jeep 4″ or more.

Optional Monotube Nitro Shock System:

Handbuilt Nitrogen Charged Monotube Rebuildable Shock System. State-of-the-Art Monotube shock technology provides the maximum combination in both comfort and control. Cooler operating temperatures, lighter weight and bigger bore size combine to outperform a conventional twin-tube shock.

The performance begins with 14mm super-finished, hardened, chrome-plated piston rods designed to endure the most punishing pavement or off-road endeavors.

A chamber full of HIGH PRESSURE NITROGEN GAS and FLOATING PISTON TECHNOLOGY results in the quickest responding shock absorber ever engineered. A big 46mm bore reacts faster to bumps and absorbs impact with extreme quickness. Achieve maximum control through APPLICATION-TUNED VALVING.

Experience greater performance with a state-of-the-art SEAMLESS TUBE DESIGN which keeps the shock’s operating temperature cooler. This, in turn, gives you long-lasting performance.

The 2.0 Mono-Tube Shock is a rebuildable, re-valvable shock that is custom built to customers specifications.
