YJ High Steer kit for Wranglers
The YJ High Steer kit system is perfect for spring over axle (SOA) Wranglers or Jeeps with 4″ or more lift. Designed for Dana 30 front axles.
Features
- Flipped Drag Link. Relocates the drag link from the bottom to the top of the steering knuckle for excellent trail hazard protection.
- Raised Track Bar. Elevates the track bar to match the new drag link position for proper operational geometry.
- High-Clearance Heavy-Duty Tubing. Utilizes thick DOM steel links to resist bending under heavy off-road loads.
- High-strength Tie Rod Joints. Employs heavy-duty tie rod ends o prevent binding during extreme axle articulation. From 1/2 ton pickup trucks, so replacements are easy to find anywhere in the world if ever needed.
- Helps Eliminate Bump Steer. Restores parallel alignment between the drag link and track bar, preventing the steering wheel from jerking when hitting bumps.
- Improves Roll Center and Stability. Raising the track bar elevation raises the vehicle roll center, enhancing stability during both highway driving and off-road maneuvers.
- Protects Steering Linkage. Moves the tie rod and drag link higher up and away from rocks, logs, and trail obstacles.
- Reduces Steering Box Stress. Corrects angles naturally without adding extra leverage or stress to the sector shaft—unlike a dropped pitman arm.
- Flattened links provides factory level safety and stability. It is not only an investment to beef up your steering, or to increase clearance and capability, but also a substantial upgrade in safety and handling.
High Steering kit for lift YJ
Over-The-Top (Trademark Pending) steering system replaces the factory Jeep components and places everything ON TOP OF the springs. No other kit on the planet does this. Some systems move the drag link to a higher spot, but we raise the drag link AND the tie rod for a true knuckle over high steer system. Angles are so dramatically reduced that it essentially ELIMINATES bumpsteer. Moving everything to the top helps protect your entire steering system from trail damage. Other kits… they only move the drag link up.
The Rocky Road OTT Steering kit is designed for use with D30 front axles on 87-95 Jeep Wranglers with spring over axle suspensions.
The strength and performance of this system will blow all other kits out of the water. The arms are carved from solid machine stock steel with horizontal grain. This makes them incredibly strong and the steering link tubes come with a lifetime warranty against bending. Our new steering system incorporates caliper mounting so that the arm is held solidly on two planes and is incredibly strong. Each knuckle hosts a 5 point mounting system for super strength and safety. All tubing is .25″ DOM. Kit comes powdercoated black for an excellent look and durable finish.
Wrangler YJ Heavy Duty Tie Rod and Drag Links included
Perhaps best of all, this is kit 50-state legal. We use tapered ball joints at each mounting point. Other kits use standard rod ends. Those are illegal to use in a steering system on public roads AND allow play in the system so the steering feel loose. Our kits uses fitted tie rod ends for a precision feel and handling.
We also use LH and RH threads on our tie rod so that alignment can easily be performed. All tie rod ends are standard off-the-shelf parts for easy replacement if they ever wear out. No custom pieces to track down. We can just give you the universal part number for easy replacement.
The OTT steering system is the only kit to offer full legality on public roads. Drop pitman arms are NOT necessary for this kit with stock or lifted springs. Our engineering takes care of all this.
Want to run a steering shock/stablizer? No problem. Our kit is available with an optional steering shock upgrade kit. It is a simple bolton addition should you decide to add this on later as well.
Easiest installation for Wrangler YJ High Steer kits
Do NOT drill out your tapered knuckles for cheaply engineered “crossover” steering kits. Drilling those holes to a straight bolt is not only dangerous for you and your passengers, its illegal in all 50 states. You must retain the factory tapered tie rod ends to maintain DOT legality. The Rocky Road kit does this. Our competitor’s kits do not!
