Roof Rack Tire Mount kit is for Rocky Road rack systems and allows you to move the tire from inside or below the vehicle, to the top for better clearance, or more inside storage space.

The Rocky Road Adventure rack provides a great carrying system at the lowest of low profiles. This provides for excellent advantage to wind resistance and maximum fuel economy. All of our accessory mounts pop on and off in a minute so you can customize your rack however you want.
Tire Mount for your Rack
More specifically, our racks are all built with a large center nut which allows the use of our prerunner style mount kit. This provides an easy to use T-handle for tightening and securing.
You can run a small bike like thru the system to lock this into place if you wish.
On some vehicles, the spare tire hangs low beneath the vehicle. We’ve even popped a spare tire on a trail in southern Utah once when it snagged a rock… which is what prompted this better design of moving the tire up top, out of harms way.
Some vehicles also mount the spare tire inside, which gobbles up storage space. Moving the tire up top puts it out of the way safely, so you can maximize your storage space inside the vehicle.
Finally, some vehicles use a spare tire on the tailgate. This may be fine for stock size tires, but on our own vehicles and multiple times on the trail, we’ve seen hinges tear loose in the sheet metal from being overloaded by a heavy full size spare. Moving the tire up top eliminates this possibility.

All Rocky Road roof rack systems are built around a super sturdy 1.25″ tube frame. All components easily bolt into place. Anyone in possession of a wrench can mount this kit up. All components come in a very durable black powdercoat finish and look excellent next to the factory roof rails. The whole system is UPSable to anywhere in the world.
