Jeep Liberty Upper Control Arms

Jeep Liberty control arms serve the purpose of helping to achieve proper alignment specifications and strut position when a Jeep Liberty is lifted. The problem is that the stock arms can wear out.

Some Jeepers who have had a lifted Liberty for awhile and play hard, May have had to change out their upper control arms. Our Liberty Control arms are a great alternative. Its also not uncommon for the stock control arms to contact the spring and make a noise during suspension movement, another issue which our Liberty control arms help minimize.

How does one make sure they’re buying the best kit on the market? Well this should end ALL online debate over which Liberty control arms are the best in the business….
When MOPAR went looking for THE BEST suspension and control arms on the planet for their ‘project’ Jeeps (these are the Jeeps that show up at popular 4×4 events, Auto industry & trade around the world), MOPAR picked Rocky Road. Yes… Jeep doesn’t just follow a popular thread on a chat forum, or a couple of “testimonials” from close friends of a 4×4 shop. MOPAR does not take the word of non-experts. Rocky Road Control Arms were deemed the best engineered, and so is the choice for various MOPAR project Jeeps.

This ends all online debate. You can’t argue Jeep engineering with Jeep engineers, and they chose RRO control arms as the best engineered. When you buy Rocky Road you are buying the best. Fact.

Jeep Liberty Control Arm kits to fix contact and alignment problems…

These great control arm kits fix *alignment, ball joint, and spring clearance issues! Rocky Road control arms are identical in length to the stock control arms, the difference is in the angle of the mounting plate for the new replaceable ball joints. While our ball joints have an insane amount of movement range, the design of our control arms puts the ball joint in a neutral position while Jeep is lifted. This eliminates the possibility of the ball joint binding up and guarantees a longer life. Our engineering also allows for easier and more accurate camber alignment by your local alignment? specialist.

Jeep Liberty Control Arm Features and Benefits

While our pricing might just make our competition cry… they don’t know the half of it. Not only do our control arms carry a lower price tag and have been found by MOPAR to be the best, we’ve also engineered some additional upgrades not so easily seen.

  • Heavy Duty durable bushings which, if they ever need replacement, can be found and serviced anywhere in the world Jeeps are sold.
  • Factory Jeep rubber bushings for a long, quiet life with a supple ride. Easily sourced if they ever wear out…no need to special order.
  • Our ball joints are the same as those you find in such heavy vehicles as the Cadillac Escalade, and so are more than strong enough for use on the Jeep Liberty. The radial static load rating on our ball joints is also thousands of lbs stronger than the standard Liberty, for a more durable design. The MOOG joints in our kits can also be found around the world in most auto parts stores, and so are an easy exchange when/if the need should ever arise for a replacement.
  • Bootie. Yes, we give you free (extra) bootie. Since the heavy duty ball joints we use are larger than stock Jeep, they are also longer. We now provide a special tie rod boot to work as a shim and spacer to the tie rod’s existing boot to ensure a good seal and no boot slippage.

Unique to the Rocky Road control arm system is also a simple bolton bumpstop extension. These are a great simple little add-on for those that really do play hard with their Jeeps offroad. You can view this nice optional item in the picture at left along with the grease fitting on the bushing.

PLEASE NOTE: Anyone who has had alignment problems with these arms is because they have mounted the ball joint to the bottom of the control arm.

Look close at the picture to the left (or top left on this webpage) for correct orientation of the ball joint coming in thru the top to alleviate any installation or alignment issues! The bumpstop mount is on top of the ball joint which is on top of the control arm. Please follow our installation instructions and photo details carefully to avoid alignment problems…

Rocky Road Control arms have a lifetime guarantee never to bend or dent. If they do, send it back and we will replace the arm for you. This is important since we have had people who have purchased our competition’s control arms and broken them, only to find out the company will not stand behind the product.

Why Choose Rocky Road Liberty Control Arms over the “Other Guys”?

Rocky Road is the original designer of Jeep Liberty control arms. You’ll notice that the other guy’s arms are very similar because they’re a very good copy of ours with a few corners that have been cut.

Rocky Road uses .25″ wall DOM tubing. The other guy uses .180 wall seamed tubing. The difference in strength is massive. Would you want the strongest material available or something cheaper?

Let’s talk ball joints. Rocky Road uses Moog ball joints designed for full size GM trucks. Moog is widely regarded as making the best OE suspension components. The other guys? They use some unmarked ball joint that doesn’t have the movement or quality of Moog. We could increase our margins by sourcing some no-name ball joint from Asia just like the other guy, but we prefer to keep things in the US.

Rocky Road arms are built in-house instead of farmed out to the cheapest labor available. Doing this allows us to control the quality of our arms. The other guy? He sources them from different shops and is not able to watch the QC.

Liberty Control Arm kits for KJ and KK Jeeps

We have kits for both the KJ Liberty… 2002-2007, and for the KK Liberty which is 2008 and newer. Please note that these kits can only be used on Jeeps with lifts 2″ and taller. For stock or shorter lifts, you will need to stick with stock replacement control arms which we do also carry. If your Jeep falls into this ‘shorter’ category, please head back out to our main suspension page to find the link for those stock replacement control arms.
